INFORMATION

Arrival and Departure Times:
Cottage bookings are from Saturday to Saturday and 3 night short breaks are available out of season. The cottages will be ready from 4.OOpm on the day of your arrival and guests must leave by 1O.OOam on the day of departure.

Electricity, Heating and Hot Water:
Electricity and gas are included in the rental charge. Full oil fired central heating and hot water are also supplied at no extra charge.

Pets and Smoking:
For the convenience of all visitors the cottages are strictly no smoking and no pets.

Bed Linen:
All beds have electric blankets, non allergenic pillows and duvets. All bed linen is provided.

Towels:
These too are provided.

The Kitchen / Dining Room:
Has tablecloths, napkins, tea towels and dishcloths.

Children are welcome:
High chair is available. Children may visit the animals with adult supervision.

Parking:
There is ample parking space near to each cottage. Bicycles can be stored undercover.

Local Services:
Within 3 miles each of 2 villages Kingsland and Shobdon has a post office/stores and public houses which serve meals. Milk and newspapers can be delivered daily.

The nearest public telephone kiosk is half a mile away at Mortimer’s Cross. The bus stop is also there for buses to Hereford.

The nearest railway stations are at Leominster and Ludlow and they are on the London Paddington /Newport link to Manchester and the North.

Cycling and Walking:
There are quiet lanes, public footpaths, ancient hill forts and woods surrounding The Buzzards. Offa’s Dyke passes within 10 miles of here and the beautiful Mortimer Trail is 2 miles away.

Riding:
Within 2 miles there is a horse riding establishment which also provides riding for the disabled.

Swimming and Sports Centres:
Leominster, Ludlow and Presteigne have swimming pools, squash and badminton facilities.

Golf Courses:
In Leominster, Ludlow and Tenbury.

Fishing:
A variety of different facilities are available in the locality.

Accessibility

The Buzzards is committed to providing appropriate accommodation for prospective guests with disabilities. Due to the layout of the cottages we lack facilities for guests with severe mobility limitations but we are trying to make our accommodation as accessible as we can. The cottages have been maintained to a good standard with some adaptations having been made for those with limited mobility. Guests should consider the overall layout in assessing whether the property would be suitable for their needs. We welcome any enquiries from guests with disabilities so we can discuss their needs and all reasonable attempts will be made to meet these. Outlined below are details of our accessibility for disabled users.

Parking
The compacted gravelled car park is about 12 metres (40 feet) from the cottages and paved paths lead to a concrete path running level, except for two steps outside the Cuckoo’s Nest cottage, for the length of the front of the three cottages.

Allergies
All beds are provided with non-allergenic pillows and duvets.
People allergic to fur or feathers should be aware that there are cats on the premises, which are not allowed in the cottages, and farm animals nearby.

Hearing and sight impairment
There are no special facilities at the Buzzards for guests who have sight or hearing impairments.

Guide dogs
We regret we are unable to take guests with dogs including guide and assistance dogs.

Other
Some light switches and power sockets are accessible by wheelchair users.
Remote control TV sets are provided.
Refrigerators are provided which can be also be used for medications/insulin/special foods etc.

Bullfinch Cottage
There is plenty of room to accommodate a wheelchair in all the downstairs rooms.

The entrance doorway is approached by a flat concrete path and is 86 cms (34 inches) wide with a small weather strip.
Ground floor
The ground floor comprises hall, kitchen/dining area, cloakroom with toilet and basin and sitting room all on one level. There is a slight ramp down into the sitting room from the hall.
Kitchen/dining area
Kitchen/dining area doorway (no door) width is 99 cms (39 inches).
Cloakroom
Cloakroom doorway width is 86 cms (34 inches).
Toilet height is standard and transfer is from the left. There is a grab rail on the right.
Basin height is standard.
Sitting room
The doorway width is 96 cms (38 inches).
There is a double bed-settee.
The stairs are reached by passing through the sitting room.
Flooring
Bullfinch has fitted carpets except for the hall, kitchen/dining area, cloakroom and upstairs en suite bathroom.

Redstart Cottage
Redstart cottage is the least accessible for the disabled. There is plenty of room to accommodate a wheelchair in all the downstairs rooms.
Entrance
The entrance doorway is approached by a flat concrete path and is 78 cms (31 inches) wide with a small weather strip.
Ground floor
The ground floor comprises hall, kitchen/dining area and sitting room.
Kitchen/dining area
The doorway width is 78 cms (31 inches).
Bathroom
The bathroom leads off the landing.
Sitting room
The doorway width is 86 cms (34 inches).
Flooring
Redstart has fitted carpets except for the hall, kitchen/dining area and upstairs bathroom.

Cuckoo’s Nest Cottage
There is plenty of room to accommodate a wheelchair in all the downstairs rooms except the shower room.
Entrance
There are two steps on the concrete path leading to Cuckoo’s Nest cottage however it can be more easily accessed by wheelchair via a compacted gravel ramp and the front of the main house where there is one small step.
The entrance doorway is approached by a concrete ramp or two steps and is 83 cms (33 inches) wide with a small weather strip.
Ground floor
The ground floor comprises hall, kitchen, shower room with toilet and basin, sitting room and additional sitting room and single bedroom all on one level.

The doorway width is 81 cms (32 inches).
